GUWAHATI: For a prompt fight against floods, the State Government will buy 50 more inflatable rubber boats. The ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority) has floated the tender.
The State Government has 100 inflatable rubber boats under its disposal now, but only 60 among them are operational. If everything goes as planned, the rubber boats will arrive in the state by July this year. The government will hand over the rubber boats to the Fire and Emergency Services. The SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) functions under the Fire and Emergency Services. The existing rubber boats of the state are also under the custody of the Fire and Emergency Services.
The estimated budget of the 50 rubber boats is Rs 4 crore.
