KOKRAJHAR: The Governor of Assam, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, formally launched the BTR Community Vision Document in the presence of BTC Chief Pramod Boro and Assam Cabinet Ministers at the ITA Centre, Machkhowa, in Guwahati today.
Unveiling the vision document, the Governor of Assam, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, said the Community Vision documents of BTC were a good initiative as they want to establish peace and equal development of Bodoland. He said the vision of Bodofa UN Brahma and social reformer Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma is being translated into reality. The Bodoland Happiness Mission is an example of holistic efforts of the BTC government to ensure peaceful co-existence and development. He said without peace and communal harmony, sustainable development will not be possible, and hence the people of BTR should stand together and work together for Vikshit Bodoland. He hoped that the BTR Community Vision Document will not only bring infrastructure development to the region but will also develop education and other sectors as well. He also said he had firm belief in Pramod Boro’s vision document to ensure protection and development of all communities of the region.
In his welcome speech, the CEM of BTC, Pramod Boro, said the government of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, prioritized “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash, and Sabka Viswash,” and respecting this theme, the government of BTR has been working with an inclusive vision for the equal development and justice of all communities living in BTR. Co-existence will be a remarkable example in BTR as the people have come together for peace, co-existence, and equal development. There had been violence, killings, clashes, and law and order problems in BTC and fratricidal killings among the Bodo people, but after the BTR peace accord and subsequent takeover of council government by UPPL and its allies, peace has returned, and the council government is going to take ahead all communities with equal justice and development.
The vision document launched by the Governor reflected the aspirations and strategic goals of the Bodos, Garos, Rabhas, Hajongs, Madahi Kacharis, Barman Mandais, Barman Kacharis, Nath Yogis, Sutradhars, Keots, Goriyas, Kalitas, Hindi Bhashis, Gorkhas, Sarania Kacharis, Koch Rajbongsis, Muslims, Adivasis, Santhals, Kurukhs, Mundas, Odias, Desis, Julhas, and Bengalis, along with SC communities like Namasudras, Kaibartas, Malis (Bhuimalis), Hiras, Bengali Sutradhars, Patnis, Muchis, etc., within the BTR. This initiative aims to foster inclusive development, unity, and empowerment across the region.
The launching programme was attended by the Speaker of the Assam Assembly, Biswajit Daimary; Speaker of BTC, Katiram Boro; Cabinet Ministers Ashok Singhal, UG Brahma, Atul Bora, Ranjit Dass, and Ranoj Pegu; MPs Joyanta Basumatary and Dilip Saikia; noted journalist and social activist Padmashree Patricia Mukhim; Deputy Chief of BTC Gabinda Chandra Basumatary; president of the BSS, Dr. Surath Narzary; noted journalist and Chancellor of Nagaland University Samudra Gupta Kashyap; Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University Prof. BL Ahooja; ADGP (SB) Hiren Nath; noted journalist Wasbir Hussain; and others. The programme was also attended by the community leaders of at least 23 communities living in BTR.
