Guwahati: The missing of OMR sheets of the Gunotsav phase III exercise conducted in 10 districts of Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Majuli, Morigaon, and Nalbari has led to a furore. The Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA) has now directed the mission district coordinators to confirm whether students actually appeared in the evaluation process.

In a letter from SSA to the districts, it was stated that the said OMR sheets were not found in the packets of the respective schools of the districts concerned, though the schools have mentioned that the said students were marked present in the attendance sheet. The mission coordinators were, therefore, directed to check whether the said students actually appeared in the evaluation process of Gunotsav 2025 or not and submit the report regarding the same to the SSA Director on Monday, without fail.

Further, the letter said that if the students in question appeared in the evaluation and OMR sheets are not available at the block level schools, the coordinators were directed to depute Nodal Officers of the district to check the packets of OMR sheets at the State Mission Office by February 26, 2025, without fail.

It should be mentioned here that Gunotsav 2025 was conducted from January 6 to February 7, 2025, in three phases. A total of 44,078 schools (Government/Provincialised schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Tea Garden Model Schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalayas, and Tea Garden Management Schools) and 38,88,464 students from classes I to IX were evaluated by external evaluators across the state. The 3rd phase of Gunotsav-2025 was held from February 4 to 7, 2025, in 10 districts of Assam, namely Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Majuli, Morigaon, and Nalbari, along with some schools of Kokrajhar and Udalguri districts, which were left out in the 1st phase of Gunotsav 2025.

A total of 11,72,401 students from classes I to IX of 13,356 schools were evaluated in the 3rd phase of Gunotsav 2025. The problem arose at the end of the 3rd phase as OMR sheets of schools in these districts were not found. This resulted in the recent order from the SSA.
