GUWAHATI: Government employees, pensioners, and their dependent family members will get medical benefits under the Mukhya Mantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana (MMLSAJ). Health Minister Keshab Mahanta informed the media of this today.

Speaking to the media here, the minister said, “The existing medical reimbursement system for government employees and pensioners is a complex one. Many of the employees and pensioners cannot avail of it. And this has led the Chief Minister to introduce the Mukhya Mantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana for the medical treatment of employees, pensioners, and their dependent family members. We have already launched a portal for this facility recently. The employees and pensioners will have to register under this portal, besides giving their nod for their shift to the new system from the existing one.”

The minister further said, “Under the new system, employees and pensioners, besides their dependents, can have medical treatment in government as well as private hospitals. The government will pay the cost of the treatment as per the Central Government’s healthcare scheme.”

Registration under the online portal for this health scheme is underway. Atal Amrit Abhiyan, Assam, will implement this new healthcare scheme on behalf of the state government.
