GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the ‘team Assam currently in Singapore’ sent a resounding message—Assam is the place to be – conveyed to over 200 business leaders at the Singapore roadshow today.

During his Singapore visit in the run-up to Advantage Assam, the Chief Minister said, “Singapore’s investor community showed great enthusiasm for Assam’s unique advantage in harnessing India’s economic potentials. Our location, single-window clearance, tailored incentives, strong law and order, and disciplined workforce stand as our core USP (Unique Selling Proposition).”

Besides meeting the business leaders, the Chief Minister also met the Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong of Singapore and highlighted Assam’s endeavours to be at the core of the Indian-Asian comprehensive strategic partnership through greater collaboration. “Grateful for the Deputy PM’s commitment to deepening the existing relationship between the state of Assam and the Republic of Singapore,” the Chief Minister said.

During the roadshow, the Chief Minister met with the chairmen and CEOs of AEM Holdings, Clean Tech, Lewo Engineering, STATS Chippac, PEP Innovations, Temasek Polytechnic, and others.

The Chief Minister said, “The situation we couldn’t imagine a few years ago—today, a positive environment launched unprecedented encouragement for Singapore’s investors and partners to establish their units in Assam.”

He said, “Our vision is to ensure Assam emerges as a global semiconductor hub. To achieve this, we are inviting firms involved in the end-to-end process of semiconductor manufacturing units to set up their bases in Assam. At the same time, we’re undertaking a large-scale skilling initiative for our workforce to meet the requirements of industry 4.0 by setting up a world skill centre in collaboration with global industries and institutions.”
