SHILLONG: The Meghalaya government will submit the recommendations of the regional committees of Meghalaya on the Assam-Meghalaya boundary disputes to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.

Talking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that he, along with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma, would meet Home Minister Amit Shah at 6 pm on Thursday.

Sangma said that the governments of Meghalaya and Assam felt that apart from historical facts, there is a need to keep in mind people's will.

"It is why the members of the three regional committees visited all the 36 disputed villages," the Chief Minister said.

Sangma also said, "It is important that the two the states do not stick to their respective positions, else they would not find the way forward."
