GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that peace and stability were firmly rooted in the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) in the past five years, and in the next five years, the priority is to transform the BTR into one of the most developed areas in the state.

The chief minister camped in the BTR for the past three days, during which he reviewed development works there, besides campaigning for the BTC election scheduled for September this year. The BJP will go it alone in the BTC poll and opt for a post-poll alliance with the regional parties. The Chief Minister said, "We brought peace to the BTR in the past five years. If this peace stays put in the Bodoland region, its development will pick up pace. It will become one of the most developed regions in the state."

The Chief Minister addressed several mammoth rallies in the BTR, besides interacting with people. He said, "Who would have thought a few years back that there would be such a turnout in rally after rally in the BTR? Now it is a living reality and one of the greatest success stories of our government."

The Chief Minister said, "The karyakartas are at the heart of the BJP, the biggest strength. The policy and objective of our government is to help people according to their needs in difficult times. Whatever the disasters or problems, the government is always standing firmly with people. The politics of the Congress is the politics of power. However, we are in politics to serve the people."
