A special programme was organized on the occasion at the campus of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kahikuchi.
Farmers from various regions of Assam, as well as officers and staff of the state's Agriculture Department, participated in the event through virtual mode.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible farming families receive Rs 6,000 annually in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. In today's 20th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme, more than 20.31 lakh eligible farmer families of Assam received the benefit, amounting to around 422.05 crore.
It is noteworthy that PM-KISAN is one of the flagship schemes of the central government and is the world's largest direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme. So far, the installments received under this scheme have enabled eligible farmers to meet their essential agricultural financial needs.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare reiterated its commitment to the welfare and empowerment of farmers and to the development of sustainable agricultural practices in India on this day. The release of the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme highlights the government's dedication to agricultural development, farmer empowerment, and sustainable growth of the farming sector not just in India but also across Assam.
The event was graced by Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita, state Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, and other dignitaries.
