Assam Police Extortion Case: CID Grilling Supari Trader Sahidul Islam

GUWAHATI: Barpeta Police handed another supari trader, Sahidul Islam, to the CID after his surrender before the police last night. The CID is grilling Sahidul Islam in connection with the extortion by Bajali police. Sources say that Sahidul Islam is a close confidant of arrested SP Shiddhartha Buragohain.

According to sources, the CID recovered a sealed suitcase from a house in Pathsala. According to reports, SP Shiddhartha had kept that suitcase in that house with the help of his orderly. The CID has not yet opened the suitcase.

Meanwhile, the CID recovered a huge amount of money from Ghaghrapara based on the confessional statement of arrested home guard Deepjoy Roy. Roy admitted before the investigators that he had thrown Rs 15 lakh at a place between Ghaghrapara and Rangia.

Meanwhile, the CID produced arrested ASP Gayatri Sonowal, her husband Subhas Chander, and middleman Kishor Baruah before the court today after the end of their three-day custody. The CID took the trio into custody for five more days.
