Assam: President’s Medal for DIG; Merit Medals for 24

Guwahati: On the occasion of Republic Day 2025, a total of 25 heroes from Assam belonging to the Police, Fire and Home Guard & Civil Defence services have been selected to receive distinguished service and meritorious service medals.

Indrani Baruah, Deputy Inspector General, Assam, has been named to receive the prestigious President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM).

A total of 14 police personnel have been named for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM). They are Rafiul Alam Laskar, Inspector General; Prasanta Hatiboruah, Platoon Commander; Upen Kalita, Deputy Superintendent of Police; Khogendra Roy, Sub Inspector; Chitramohan Rabha, Sub Inspector; Hemen Bhuyan, Assistant Sub Inspector; Baluram Chaudang, Inspector; Heramba Nath, Havildar; Bibekananda Sarmah, Sub Inspector; Bishnu Parsad Chetry, Assistant Sub Inspector; Dipak Kakati, Head Constable; Sanku Choudhury, Head Constable; Bapdhan Rajbongshi, Naik; and Gojen Moran, Constable of the Assam Police.

From the Fire Services, seven personnel are slated to receive the Medal For Meritorious Service (MSM). They are Jay Ram Boro (Driver), Jatindra Nath Kalita (Sub Officer), Nasid Ali (Station Officer), Bipul Kalita (Station Officer), Ganesh Deka (Squad Commander), Prabin Chandra Das (Station Officer), and Keshab Chandra Kalita (Sub Officer).

From the Home Guard & Civil Defence services, three personnel will receive the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM). They are Bhuban Kalita, Platoon Commander; Utpal Ghosh, Civil Defence Volunteer; and Deepankar Borgohain, Civil Defence Volunteer.

 On the eve of Republic Day, 2025, a total of 942 personnel of Police, Fire, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services from across the country have been awarded gallantry and service medals.
