Assam Revenue Department approves 115 schemes for repair & restoration of embankments

The State Revenue and Disaster Management (R&DM) Department has given administrative approval to 115 schemes of the Water Resources Department.

GUWAHATI: The State Revenue and Disaster Management (R&DM) Department has given administrative approval to 115 schemes of the Water Resources Department.

The schemes are for the repair and restoration of embankments across the state.

An amount of Rs 228.27 crore would be spent on the 115 schemes.

The decision approving the 115 schemes was taken at two State Executive Committee meetings of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) held before the recently-concluded Assam Assembly elections. However, the administrative approval of the work could not be issued as the Model Code of Conduct was in force.

The committee is headed by the Chief Secretary, Assam.

Fourteen 14 other schemes worth Rs 73.19 crore are in the pipeline.

It is now for the Water Resources Department to complete the work expeditiously as the monsoon is nearing.
