Guwahati: In view of the consecration ceremony at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya tomorrow, the state government stated that all government educational institutions will remain closed for the whole day tomorrow. An appeal was made to private educational institutions, which have been asked to keep their institutions closed for the day.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to business establishments to keep their businesses closed till 2 PM tomorrow in order to enable their employees to view the consecration ceremony, which is a ‘historical’ occasion.

Meat and fish shops have been directed to keep their shutters down until 4 PM, and no restaurants will be allowed to serve meat dishes or non-vegetarian fare until 2 PM. January 22 has already been declared a dry day.

The CM appealed to the people of Assam to light a diya or put up some illumination in front of every home in the evening to mark the auspicious occasion. The women have been asked to conduct special naam-kirtan in every naamghar in the state. People from the Muslim and Christian communities have also been asked to conduct special prayers.

“Instead of gathering at crossroads or main roads, the people should celebrate in their homes or at temples to create a mood conducive to religious feelings,” he appealed to the people ahead of the Pran Pratistha of Ram Lalla at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya tomorrow.
