GUWAHATI: The Dr. Hiren Gohain-led move to bring the opposition parties together to put up a united fight in the 2026 Assembly election in the state failed to materialise today. A hot debate over the share of seats among the alliance parties led MP Pradyut Bordoloi to leave the meeting halfway.

The meeting witnessed an unruly situation over the share of seats. So much so that even APCC president Bhupen Borah had to leave the meeting halfway, but others took him back to the meeting that Dr. Hiren Gogain was leading virtually.

Before the start of the meeting, MLA Akhil Gogoi said, "The Congress has been deceiving us in the name of alliance since 2021. Why should we suffer the loss every year? If the BJP is to be defeated, the Congress has to keep us with them."
