Assam Secretariat to implement new attendance system to recognize faces

GUWAHATI: The Assam Secretariat will implement a face recognition attendance system in its offices with effect from November 2, 2023.
In this connection, GAD (General Administration Department) laid down guidelines for its smooth functioning.
According to the guidelines, the in-time for the employees shall be up to 09:45 a.m., and the exit time shall be after 5 p.m. on all working days. In case of any emergency, an employee leaving before 5 p.m. may do so with the due approval of the immediate reporting authority, marking his or her exit. For the month of November, both the biometric attendance system and the existing attendance system will be functional simultaneously, unless otherwise notified.
Officials attached to the establishment of ministers and senior officers are to mark their respective entry and exit in the face recognition attendance system as and when they attend their duties. Instructions in this regard, if any, will be issued subsequently.
