Assam: State Cabinet Approves four MoUs Worth Rs 1,843 Crore

GUWAHATI: The state cabinet took several decisions, including approval of four MoUs worth Rs 1,843 crore signed with cement factories, hotels and soft drink companies. The Cabinet today decided to raise the number of development blocks in the BTR to 23 from the existing 22, besides raising the ration allowance for Assam Forest Protection Force personnel to Rs 2,500 per month from the existing Rs 2,000 per month.

In sync with the observance of 2025 as the Book Year, the Cabinet decided to pay one-time grants to 1,000 young writers of the state.

The other decisions of the Cabinet include the payment of an extra amount of Rs 1,000 to each employee of the state government along with their salaries for the month of November for purchasing books, as 2025 is celebrated as book year; paying Rs 5 lakh to district-level and Rs 2.50 lakh to co-district-level organizers of book fairs; distribution of the biography of Dr Bhupen Hazarika among 12 lakh families of the state in January 2026; and the approval of Rs 178 crore for six science centres of the state.
