GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet approved Rs 2,000 crore for the implementation of the Mukhya Mantrir Mahila Udyamita Asoni (MMMUA) for the financial year 2024-25. The ceremonial distribution of seed capital amounts of Rs 10,000 for each woman will begin in April 2025.
Speaking to the media today, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "After the survey, 31 lakh women have been listed for the scheme after the scrutiny of their eligibility. However, the government will cover 27 lakh women members of self-help groups this time. According to the criteria, family members of MLAs, ministers, gazetted officers, wine shop owners, owners of trucks and JCBs, income tax-paying women, and some others are not eligible for this scheme." To ensure unabated development of the BTR, the Cabinet has approved the release of Rs 401 crore SOPD-G funds for projects to be implemented by the BTC.
The Cabinet has approved enhancement of state share capital from Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 6,000 crore in Assam Power Generation Company Ltd. (APGCL).
The Cabinet has approved the guidelines for constituting anganwadi centre management committees for the proper functioning of anganwadi centres.
Apart from this, the Cabinet announced a Rs 292-crore package for the development of the Morigaon district.
