Guwahati: To implement its earlier decision to provide one-time financial aid to the next of kin of the Pahalgam attack victims as a token of support and solidarity, the Assam government started to distribute cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to the martyrs’ families from today. On Friday, Assam Cabinet Ministers Keshab Mahanta, Prasanta Phukan, Kaushik Rai, and Nandita Gorlosa went to various states to hand over the cheques to the families of the Pahalagam attack victims, along with a condolence letter from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Chief Minister posted on his X handle, “We stand firmly with the families of the victims of #PahalgamTerroristAttack... A month has passed since the tragic Pahalgam massacre, but the victims will always remain in our hearts & their families in our prayers.”
