Axam Xahitya Xabha to Set up Language and Literature with Model Schools

GUWAHATI: Without confining itself just as a pressure group and in the field of language and literature, the century-old AXX (Axam Xahitya Xabha) has decided to step into the field of education with model schools from the 2020 academic session in the State. The venture, if materialized, has the potential to script a golden era in the business of human resources development in the State.

This decision was taken by the Jatiya Adarsha Xiksha Xanxad (JAXX) of the AXX that held a meeting on this issue in Guwahati on Thursday. The meeting was presided over by AXX president Paramananda Rajbongshi, who happens to be the JAXX chairperson. To take such a leap, which seems to the biggest-ever in AXX history, the literary body has been driven by the logic that the State should make progress in the field of education in sync with the rest of the world that keeps changing very fast.

Speaking at the meeting, Rajbongshi said: “We’ve taken into considerations domains like language-literature-culture, tradition-history, making the new generation aware of the changing nationalistic thinking, self-respect, introducing the new generation to the digital world and making possible human resources development in true sense of the term while taking such a decision.”

Rajbongshi said: “The model schools which we’re going to set up will be upgraded to the university level from three-year level (ankur). Though Assamese will be the medium of instruction, English, Hindi and indigenous languages of the State will be taught as language subjects. To begin with, we are going to set up three schools – one at Tarajan in Jorhat under the aegis of Rai Bahadur Heramboprasad Baruah Memorial Educational Trust, the second one at Teok also in Jorhat district and the third one at Raja Mayang in Morigaon district. We’re going to receive admission forms from October this year for admission in 2020.”
