CBI filed charge sheet against ex-Food Corporation of India DGM

GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet against the then FCI (Food Corporation of India) Deputy General Manager (DGM) (Region) Bhaskaran Devanand and Sagar Basumatary, Proprietor of M/s Sagar Basumatary in the CBI Court today.

The CBI registered a case on October 28, 2021, against the former FCI DGM and others, including the proprietor of a private company based at Kokrajhar, on the allegations of anomalies in awarding of a contract for the transportation of food grains and manipulation in sanctioning transportation bills showing undue favour to the private contractor causing an alleged loss of Rs 55,28,829 to the government exchequer.

The CBI earlier conducted searches on the premises of the accused. The CBI recovered documents about transport contracts of FCI, handwritten transcripts of records of expenditures/payments made and details of bank passbooks, cheque books containing record slips from the residence of the proprietor of the private farm.
