New Delhi: The Board has updated its affiliation norms to include a new provision, this amendment has been made under Chapter 4, which deals with physical infrastructure requirements for affiliated schools. This move is aimed at strengthening security across school campuses by covering key areas such as entry and exit points, corridors, classrooms, lobbies, laboratories, libraries, canteens, and playgrounds, while explicitly excluding toilets and washrooms for privacy of an individual.

The surveillance systems must retain recorded footage for a minimum of 15 days, ensuring availability for review by relevant authorities when needed. Schools must adhere to this directive by performing consistent maintenance on their systems while ensuring all recordings have backup copies.

This is drawn from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights’ (NCPCR) “Manual on Safety and Security of Children in Schools” supports these measures which focus on protecting students from physical, emotional and environmental threats. Authorities place special emphasis on emotional safety which includes protection from bullying because they recognize its detrimental effects on students' well-being and mental health. The guidance states that bullying can lead to chronic stress and low self esteem which will result directly on their quality of life and low performance in education.

The board is asking for active participation from teachers, students, special needs assistants, contractors, staff and visitors alike to adhere to these safety standards and create a cohesive, secure, and vigilant campus environment with the help of new technology. Schools and students alike are encouraged to adhere to these rules so that they may keep up their affiliation with CBSE.
