GUWAHATI: The CID is yet to recover one of the two MacBooks that Rabiul Islam gave to the Bajali police under duress. The investigators recovered the other MacBook kept hidden by former SP Siddhartha Buragohain. The two MacBooks stole the spotlight of the investigation.

The CID today raided the official residence of former ASP Gayatri Sonowal at the 10th Assam Police Battalion in Guwahati, the Pathsala rented house of arrested DSP Pushkal Gogoi, the Bhawanipur rented house of arrested IC of Bhawanipur outpost Debajit Giri, and the Sorupeta residence of middleman Kishor Baruah. The CID took all these accused to their residences during the raid. The sleuths searched the luxurious car of Sonowal by taking each part apart. The CID used metal detectors during their raids at the residence of Sonowal’s mother in Guwahati yesterday.

According to sources, the other arrested supari trader, Sahidul Islam, hailing from Barpeta district, could manage both Bajali Police and Rabiul Islam. Sahudul instigated the Bajali Police to squeeze as much money as possible from Rabiul Islam and, at the same time, pretended to rest assure Rabiul that he would manage the police.
