By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, February 24: “Work day in, day out, and make Guwahati free from artificial floods,” Assam Additiol Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu, a straight-talking bureaucrat, told the engineers and top officials of the GMC, GMDA and the Irrigation Department at a meeting in Assam Secretariat today.  Bhanu assured the people of the state that this time around artificial floods would be a thing of the past. Bhanu set March 10 as the deadline for the engineers and officials to complete the cleaning of all choked drains of the city. “All garbage dug out from choked drains should be taken away within three days, failing which the engineers and officers concerned will have to face dire consequences,” Bhanu said.

The engineer in-charge of the Morabharalu had to face the wrath of the Additiol Chief Secretary for not taking the directive of the officer seriously.
