GUWAHATI: The State Secretariat has a Herculean task to clear thousands of files by May 10, 2022. These piles of files have been lying undisposed for years and on.
These heaps of files were up to May 10, 2021, when Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and a few of his Cabinet colleagues took the oath.
To make governance citizen-friendly by migrating to e-governance under 'Project Sadbhabana', the Assam Government decided to dispose of all old files pending at the Assam Secretariat for years. After the accomplishment of 'Sadbhabana', the State government will introduce an e-file system in the State Secretariat. Without disposing of thousands of files for decades, the State Secretariat had been keeping the hopes and aspirations of people on tenterhooks. Files concerning the public did not move if not pursued.
Gauzing the gravity of the situation, the Chief Minister made it a point that 'every file' needs disposal before May 10, 2022, to let the aspiring people off tenterhooks. The decisions on files may or may not be in favour of the applicants.
A source in the SAD (Secretariat Administration Department) said, "Under Project Sadbhabana, the government will give its decision on every file, and upload it in the Right to Public Service Portal to let the applicants know the status of their files. They can track the movement of their files in the portal."
