GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has drawn a clear-cut line separating personal enmity from political hostility. He said that he had no personal enmity with AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal with whom he had political hostilities.

Talking to the media at the BJP office today, the Chief Minister said, "I have no personal enmity with anybody. I'm quite friendly with all, especially the Congress leaders. I've no personal enmity with anyone. Our actions at Gorukhuti, Lumding and Lahorijan have reflected our battle against Ajmal. We are not against Ajmal the person. We are against the 'civilization' Ajmal represents. Personally, Ajmal is not my enemy. My enemy is 'his civilization'. Ours is a big fight. The people of Gorukhuti, Lumding and Lahorijan saw this fight. The police action against criminals shows this battle every day. This fight will continue."

On the political front, the Chief Minister said, "The Northeast is now free from the Congress that had a good grip in the region for years. The recent Rajya Sabha poll is a milestone for the BJP that touched the 100-mark in the Elders' House. It is a milestone for the UPPL as well as the party made it to the Rajya Sabha for the first time. A lady member from Nagaland also made it to the Rajya Sabha for the first time.

"The UPPL and the BPF are political contenders in the BTR. However, we have persuaded the BPF to vote for the UPPL candidate in the Rajya Sabha. It is a political event to take note of." The Chief Minister went to the party office to interact with ministers, MLAs and party leaders on organizational matters and government schemes.
