 Centre releases Rs 100 crore for revival of BVFCL units

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chemical and Fertilizer Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval today.

After meeting the Prime Minister at 7 pm, the Chief Minister said, "I have apprised the Prime Minister of what the State Government did in the recent past. I have invited him in advance to come to the state next year and inaugurate the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences). I have assured him of achieving 100 per cent vaccination of the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by this month.

"I have let him know that the World Bank is keen to work with us. We have discussed the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) corridor and the proposed tunnel beneath the Brahmaputra. I have informed him of Mission Basundhara,"

The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister stressed the state governments to become self-reliant on GST collection.

With Shah, the Chief Minister discussed ULFA talks, boundary disputes with a few neighbouring states, NRC etc. "I have invited him to make an on-the-spot visit to the India-Bangladesh border. He is likely to visit the Bangladesh border next month. I have also apprised him of the drug seizure in the state, besides the measures we have taken to dispose of pending cases in various police stations in the state.

"I will meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tomorrow."

The Union Chemical and Fertilizer Ministry has released Rs 100 crore to revive units 2 and 3 of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Ltd (BVFCL).

With Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the Chief Minister talked about the revival of units 2 and 3 of the BVFCL that yielded to the release of Rs 100 crore by the Union Ministry.

The Chief Minister said, "This morning, I requested Union Minister Mandaviya to release Rs 100 crore to revive the BVFCL. And the ministry credited the amount in the afternoon. Good governance is also about faster delivery."

The Centre also convened a meeting of all stakeholders to revive unit 4 of the BVFCL.
