The three officials Samed Ali, Sukanya Borah and Bhaskar Deka were summoned by the CM's Special Vigilance Cell for interrogation earlier today. However, they were not cooperating with the sleuths which led to their arrest.

The three officials have been arrested in connection with the following cases: Vigilance PS Case No 09/2023 against Samed Ali, former Executive Engineer, PWD Roads, Karimganj whose DA was approximately 114%. He was remanded in 5 days of police custody; Vigilance PS Case No 08/2023 against suspended ACS officer Sukanya Borah, ADC, Kamrup Metro who had DA of approximately 1190.90% and she was remanded in 3 days of police custody; Vigilance PS Case No 05/2022 against Bhaskar Deka, AFS, DFO, Sonitpur with DA worth approximately 189%. The first case was registered against Samed Ali, a former executive engineer of the state PWD who retired from Karimganj in 2022. A complaint was lodged against Samed Ali with the CM's SVC in 2022. After Case No. 09/2023 was registered against him, the SVC started its investigations. The team discovered that he owned a three-story house in the city's Gandhi Basti locality, another apartment building in the same area where he had four flats, one flat in Toostee Apartments, another apartment in North Sarania, a G+2 building at Sarumotoria, 2 kathas of land at Sawkuchi, a plot of land at Natun Sarania, and another plot of land at Notboma. Moreover, a total of 31 passbooks from different banks were found during a raid on his residence.

The second case is related to suspended ACS officer Sukanya Borah. The sleuths of the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell (CM's SVC)  found that suspended ACS officer had a residence at Gandhi Basti in Guwahati and an additional penthouse at the Syndicate Arcadia Apartment at Jayanagar in the city. The Vigilance Cell has a DA (disproportionate asset) case (8/2023) registered against her. Sukanya Borah has two plots of land of more than 17 bighas in Morigaon, a 1 katha, 19 lessa plot in Amingaon, 3 kathas of land in Hatigaon, and another plot in Katahbari. It should be mentioned here that the state government suspended the ACS officer in connection with the case relating to irregularities in the MPLAD (MP's Local Area Development) fund of Rajya Sabha member Ajit Kumar Bhuyan. She was the ADC, Kamrup (Metro), at the time of her suspension on March 18, 2023.

The third case is against Bhaskar Deka, who had 189 percent disproportionate assets, according to sources. He was the divisional forest officer at Sonitpur and was posted in Nagaon before that.
