Merely blocking a spammer on your phone’s calling app may stop further calls, but it does not result in any official action against the offender. To ensure that appropriate measures are taken, users are encouraged to report spam through official channels regulated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The most effective way to do this is by using the TRAI DND (Do Not Disturb) App, available on both Android and iOS platforms. The app allows you to report spam calls or messages with just a few taps. Alternatively, complaints can be submitted through your mobile service provider’s app or by sending an SMS to 1909 in the prescribed format.
Report spam for action against spammers. However, blocking a spammer on the calling app of a phone does not lead to action against the spammer. Report spam on the TRAI DND app or service provider app or 1909. Reporting on the TRAI DND app is easy and quick.
Every report helps TRAI and service providers trace and penalise spammers, thereby improving the security and reliability of India’s telecommunications network and reducing unsolicited communications for all users.
