Congress MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed arrested in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The police arrested Congress MLA from Baghbor LAC Sherman Ali Ahmed in Guwahati today for making some 'insulting comments' against the Assam Agitation martyrs.

After the recent Gorukhuti incident, Sherman Ali Ahmed made some comments against the martyrs of the Assam Agitation. The remarks from the MLA stirred up the hornets' nest in the state, leading to the lodging of FIRs against him by various organizations in different police stations in the state. The police today arrested him based on all those FIRs.
