Conviction rate 5.5% (provisional) in 2020 against various cases registered by police

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma — who is also in charge of the Home department — in a written reply to a question of MLA Pradip Sarkar, on Monday informed the Assembly that the conviction rate against various cases registered by the police was 11.7% in 2016 followed by 12% in 2017, 5.9% in 2018, 6.7% in 2019 and 5.5% (provisional) in 2020.
