GUWAHATI: The number of COVID-19 patients continued to rise with 97 new positive cases reported till the filing of this news report on Thursday. With Thursday's new cases, coronavirus has so far infected 880 persons in the State; out of which 103 have been discharged from different hospitals.

The Kamrup Metropolitan district has topped the list of positive cases with 150 patients. Health & Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the State will have tough time till June 15 as more people, stranded in different parts of the country due to lockdown, will return to the State.

He, however, appealed to the people not to become panicky but remain alert, cautious and adhere to all COVID-safety norms particularly maintaining social distancing. Sarma further said that all positive cases are now being reported from the quarantine centres and there is no spreading of the virus at the community level.
