GUWAHATI: The COVID-19 tally of Assam on Sunday was 16,806 with 5,873 new cases; 10,894 discharged; and 39 casualties.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted on sunday night, that the COVID-19 toll in the State has risen to 39 with the death of four patients on Sunday. Sarma further tweeted, "Very sad to inform that 4 COVID-19 patients — Nilakshi Sing (40) of Guwahati; Arjun Kumar Ajitsaria (63) of Nagaon and Mrs Subhawati Devi Maurya (55) of Guwahati admitted in GMCH COVID ICU and succumbed to their critical infections between 11.30 pm and 2 am. Sarma further tweeted, 'Sad to Share that Jorhat's Ashish Sahewal (36), with no history of comorbidities, presented with sudden onset breathing difficulty at 5 am at JMCH, and lost the fight at 2.20 pm. He was COVID positive."

In another tweet, he informed that "Dhubri MP Badruddin Ajmal has been admitted in a Mumbai hospital after a mild dip in his oxygen saturation level. I am in constant touch with his family and monitoring his health. I join all in wishing him speedy recovery."
