TEZPUR: The two-day conference of deputy commissioners got underway at Tezpur Convention Centre in Sonitpur district today. The conference will conclude tomorrow.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma twitted, "We are committed to the welfare of our people and strengthen the roadmap for the proper execution of Government schemes. The two-day DCs' Conference is part of the Government's efforts to brainstorm issues with officials to remove all hurdles in the way of effective governance. Public well-being is our top priority. It is intrinsically linked with the proper implementation of welfare schemes. I'm attending Day-1 of DCs' Conference at Tezpur today to discuss the implementation of flagship schemes, and programmes and address specific concerns that might come in the way."

Talking to the media, the Chief Minister said, "The year-long celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan will start from August 2022."

The Chief Minister urged people belonging to all sections of society to write a short note each on Commander Bir Lachit Borphukan. The deputy commissioners will look into the matter. The government will try to make at least 30 per cent of the population in each district writes the note on Lachit Barphukan.
