GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has directed the Assam Madrassa Teachers Association and four other petitioners to submit a fresh representation before the Commissioner and Secretary of the Secondary Education Department within 15 days regarding their request for provincialization of services of the staff of various venture madrassa institutions of the state.

Further, the High Court directed that the Commissioner and Secretary of the Secondary Education Department will have to "consider and dispose of" the petitioners' representation in accordance with law within a period of two months from July 25.

It is pertinent to mention that the petitioners had moved a Writ Petition before the court, seeking a directive to the government to take necessary steps for the purpose of provincialization of services of the staff of various venture madrassa institutions under the provision of the Assam Education (Provincialization of Services of Teachers and Re-Organization of Educational Institutions) Act, 2017 and the Assam Education (Provincialization of Services of Non-Teaching Staff of Venture Educational Institutions) Act, 2018.

The petitioners further submitted that they had submitted representations in this regard to the Principal Secretary of the Secondary Education Department, the Commissioner and Secretary of the Secondary Education Department and the Commissioner and Secretary of the Elementary Education Department on August 12, 2020.

The court thereupon asked the petitioners to submit a fresh representation in this connection to the Commissioner and Secretary of the Secondary Education Department alone, appending therewith a copy of the Writ Petition along with relevant annexures.
