GUWAHATI: The State Government has asked the police to delve deeper into the anomalies and misconduct in the CCE-2013 (Combined Competitive Examiantions-2013) of the APSC and not to let any of the erring persons involved in the cash-for-job scam escape unpunished. Dibrugarh Police have been investigating the cash-for-job scam in the CCE-2013 and CCE-2014, leading to the arrest of a former APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) chairman, a few APSC members and some selected candidates.

Following a directive from the Gauhati High Court, the State Government constituted a judicial commission with retired judge Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma to inquire into the misconduct and anomalies in the CCE-2013 conducted by the APSC. The judicial commission submitted its report on the CCE-2013 to the government. The commission report made mention of more ACS and allied service officers, currently in service, in its report. The government examined the report on the CCE-2013 submitted by the judicial commission. The names of more ACS and allied services officers who figured in the report of the Justice BK Sharma Commission were missing in the investigation report of the police.

The State Government asked the police to delve deeper into the cash-for-job scam in the CCE-2013 so that no erring person escapes unpunished. According to police sources, the police may take the statements of ACS and allied service officers who the judicial commission mentioned in its report.

After the judicial commission threw fresh light into the scam, the police took the statement of former APSC Principal Controller of Examinations Nanda Babu Singh recently for his clarification in the CCE-2013. The police may call Singh again to go deeper into the scam.
