GUWAHATI: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has approved the DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) of three projects in Assam related to education.
In its 57th meeting, the empowered inter-ministerial committee (EIMC) of NESIDS-OTRI (North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme-Other Than Road Infrastructure) of DoNER recommended the three DPRs for approval. The cost of the three projects is Rs 123.84 crore.
The decision of the EIMC meeting came to light in the office memorandum of DoNER issued on June 18, 2025.
According to the office memorandum, NITI Aayog, the Department of School Education and Literacy, the Government of India, and the Department of Telecommunication supported all three projects of Assam after a thorough examination.
The three projects are the three phases of Smart Tech Enhancing Learning Technology Integration in Assam under NESIDS-OTRI. The costs of the three projects are Rs 44 crore for phase I, Rs 43.52 crore for phase II, and Rs 36.32 crore for phase III.
NESIDS-OTRI is a central sector scheme of the DoNER fully funded by the Government of India that aims at developing infrastructure in the northeastern region of India.
The funding pattern in the erstwhile Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) of DoNER was 90:10 (90 percent by the Centre and 10 percent by the state governments concerned). The NESIDS has two wings—one for roads and the other for OTRI. NESIDS is the modified version of the NLCPR.
