GUWAHATI: After the July 26 incident on the Mizoram border, the State Home and Political department issued a travel advisory today asking the people of Assam not to travel to Mizoram. The advisory has said that the State government cannot accept any threat to the people of Assam.

The advisory said that the people of Assam staying in Mizoram due to work-related compulsion should exercise utmost caution. This advisory is in force with immediate effect.

The notification said that certain Mizo civil societies, students and youth organizations continue to issue provocative statements against Assam and its people. The video footages available with the Assam Police have made it clear that many Mizo civilians have armed themselves with automatic weapons.

Meanwhile, Dispur has asked Kamrup (M) and Cachar police to ensure the safety and security of all people from Mizoram staying Guwahati and Cachar.
