Extend loans to deserving entrepreneurs: Veterinary Minister Atul Bora to bankers

GUWAHATI: State Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora appealed to the banks operating in the state to extend loans to deserving youths planning new endeavours in the animal husbandry sector and not to discourage them.

The minister had a discussion with entrepreneurs and bankers at the Livestock and Poultry Show currently underway at Khanapara in Guwahati.

Bora requested senior bank officials not to discourage the deserving youths who approach them seeking loans for their projects in the animal husbandry and poultry sectors.

During the interaction session organized on the second day of the ongoing three-day event, the entrepreneurs associated with this sector shared the problems they faced, especially in the financial sector, in the presence of senior officials from several financial institutions, including the NABARD, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, United Bank, Uco Bank, etc.

The officials also shared their knowledge regarding several schemes from the banks, including KCC loans and other initiatives, to promote the livestock and veterinary sectors. They urged interested parties and organisations to avail themselves of the same.

Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation chairman Manoj Saika mentioned that the sector has been able to provide all opportunities for accelerated growth. He said that, along with the banking sector, every other stakeholder should foster the growth of the same.

Along with the interaction session, a knowledge-sharing session on the sudden illnesses of livestock was also undertaken today. A drawing competition and egg-eating competition, along with the traditional game of 'koni-juz', were also organised as part of the Livestock and Poultry Show.
