Fake Appointment Scam In Social Welfare Department

GUWAHATI: Latasil police is making inroads into solving the fake appointment scam in the scam-tainted State Social Welfare Department.

According to sources, the police have already recovered one of the fake appointment letters issued to one Jugal Chutia. This is not all. The police have already identified two brokers involved in the scam. The mobile numbers of the two brokers have also been collected by the police, sources said.

According to the investigating team, they have already taken the statement of Social Welfare Director Juri Phukan. It was Phukan who had lodged an FIR in connection with the fake appointment scam in the department at Latasil Police Station.

The fake appointment letters even bear the signature of the Director of Social Welfare. Earlier in her FIR, Phukan said that no such appointment letters had been issued from the Directorate.
