Fake message on power bills

The APDCL (Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd) has requested power consumers not to fall prey to fake messages (SMS) and fraudulent calls that come from some miscreants.

The fake message reads "Dear consumers, your electricity power will be disconnected tonight at 9.30 pm from electricity office because your previous month bill was not update. Please contact immediately with our electricity officer at 06387758093." The fake message comes from a number – 7718380211.

The APDCL said that it never sends such messages or SMS to any power consumer. The APDCL requested power consumers not to heed such messages and complain about them in 1912 or at the nearest APDCL sub-divisional office.
