GUWAHATI: The Personnel Department, Assam, issued a reminder asking the ACS (Assam Civil Service) officers who have not yet filed their annual property returns for the calendar year 2020 to file them immediately.

According to the Assam Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965, all ACS officers of the State have to file their property returns in two formats – Immovable Property Returns (IPR) and Movable Property Returns (MPR). ACS officers have to file their property returns by January 31 after the completion of every calendar year.

To date, while 507 ACS officers filed their immovable property returns (IPR), 476 ACS officers filed their movable property returns (MPR) for the calendar year 2020.

The State has altogether 858 ACS officers, 135 of them are newly recruited ones who will have to file their first property returns by January 31, 2022.

ACS officers not filing their annual property returns regularly may suffer in promotions and other aspects of their service career like vigilance clearance. The government may not empanel them for senior posts, deputation for foreign services, permission for a foreign tour, no-objection certificates for passports etc.
