Finance Minister Ajanta Neog to table Budget on March 16

GUWAHATI: Finance Minister Ajanta Neog will present the state budget for fiscal 2022-23 on March 16.

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) met today with ALA ALA Speaker Biswajit Daimary in the chair. It decided to present the state Budget on March 16, 2022.

The Business Advisory Committee also decided to continue the Budget session from March 14-April 1. This period will have nine working days. The department-related standing committees of the Assembly will have their meetings during that period.

The preparation of the state budget is going on in full swing. All departments of the state submitted their budgetary proposals to the Finance Department on February 5. The Finance Department is examining the proposals submitted to it by other departments. The Finance Department is also scrutinizing fund utilization of various departments in the current financial year up to December 31, 2021.

It is the first full-fledged state budget that Neog is going to present. After Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma came to power at Dispur, Neog presented the current six-month budget.

Neog will finalize the budget in consultation with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
