GUWAHATI: Five film personalities from Assam bagged awards at the 71st National Film Awards.
The jury for the 71st National Film Awards announced the winners for the year 2023 in New Delhi today. The Rajat Kamal Award for the Best Assamese Film went to 'Rangatapu 1982,' produced by BRC Cine Production and directed by Adityam Saikia, Rajat Kamal. The award carries Rs. 2 lakh. Another Rajat Kamal award went to the best Tai Phake film, 'Pai Tang…Step of Hope,' produced by Naba Kumar Bhuyan and directed by Prabal Khaund. This award also carries Rs 2 lakh.
A Swarna Kamal Award for the best film critic went to Utpal Datta. The award carries Rs 1 lakh. Another Swarna Kamal Award for the best debut film in the non-feature films section went to director Shilpika Bordoloi for her film 'Mau: The Spirit Dreams of Cheraw' (Mizo). This award carries Rs 3 lakh.
Yet another Rajat Kamal Award went to 'Lentina Ao - A Light on the Eastern Horizon' as the best biographical film. The film was produced by NFDC and directed by Sanjib Parasar. The award carries Rs 2 lakh.
