GUWAHATI: The flood situation in the state deteriorated a little today, raising the number of affected districts to ten compared to eight yesterday.

Eighteen revenue circles in ten districts are facing the wrath of the deluge today. The districts are Darrang, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, and Nagaon.

Meanwhile, the Brahmaputra is still flowing above its danger level in the Dhubri district. According to the evening bulletin of the CWC (Central Water Commission), the water level of the Brahmaputra from Neamatighat to Dhubri stretch is falling, while the Dibrugarh stretch of the mighty river is maintaining a steady trend today. Two other rivers, Burhidihing in the Dibrugarh district and Dhansiri in the Golaghat district, are rising.

According to ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority), as of today, 42,038 people in 217 villages are reeling under floods. The most affected district today is Darrang, with over 27,000 affected people.

Reports of erosion from five districts—Bongaigaon, Dhemaji, Tamulpur, Tinsukia, and Udalguri—keep coming.
