
New Delhi: Satya Pal Malik, former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and a seasoned politician with decades of public service, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 79. According to his personal staff, he died at 1:12 PM at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi after a prolonged illness. He had been under intensive care for an extended period due to multiple health issues.
Malik held several key constitutional posts during his political career. In addition to serving as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir during a critical phase in its political transition, he also held gubernatorial roles in Goa, Bihar, Meghalaya, and Odisha. A former Member of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, Malik was known for his outspoken nature and active participation in national issues.
