KOKRAJHAR: Fraudsters are on the prowl in the BTR defrauding crores of rupees using 'fake work orders' with forged signatures of the Chief Executive Member (CEM) and the directors of some BTC departments.
The matter came to light after the detection of 'fake work orders' with forged signatures in the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Transport in BTR.
Talking to media at BTC Secretariat conference hall on Thursday, the Executive Member and BTC spokesperson Arup Kr Dey said that three or four groups of fraudsters were defrauding crores of rupees in five districts of councils using fake supply orders. He said some agents with ill intentions were collecting money using 'fake supply orders' with the forged signature of BTC CEM Pramod Boro and the Director of Health Services. He also said that 'a fake supply order with the forged signature of the CEM and the director of Health Services' was detected recently, leading to the lodging of an FIR to this effect. He further said the council informed all SPs of the BTR to crack down on the fraudsters.
Dey said that some agents were active in remote places, collecting money with the promise of offering government jobs in BTR. Such agents claim to be close associates of BTC CEM Pramod Boro and other high officers.
Dey appealed to the people of BTR not to believe agents and fraudsters, but to follow the advertisements and the BTC website for any project or job. A letter to Jiten Khera of M/S Amroot Agro, Mahamaya Plaza, Bara Bazar, Pandu, Guwahati-12 from the Director of Health Services, BTC vide tender reference nos-DA/BTC/HS-51/off-tender/2021-22/01 (Govt. of Assam amounting to Rs 6 crore and DA/BTC/HS-50/off-tender/2021-22 (Govt. of Assam) amounting to Rs 28 crore for supply of health equipment was detected. Also, a fake letter with the forged signature of CEM Pramod Boro was written to the Secretary of Transport department, BTC asking to prepare a plan and estimate for execution with an amount of Rs 18 crore for supply of E-Rickshaw in the name of Jiten Khera of Mumbai, Maharastra-40012 was also detected.
