Full salaries and pension for May: Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday tweeted that the State Government has decided to disburse full salaries and pension to its employees for the month of May.

"This is possible due to the release of devolution of grant by Union Government. My deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman," Sarma tweeted.

He further stated that the State Government's revenue has also shown gradual improvement. The decision to give full salaries and pension has come at a time when Dispur is adopting various austerity measures to tackle the financial crisis caused by the COVID-driven lockdown.
