Gauhati High Court to Dispur: How many persons sans identification papers have been vaccinated?

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has directed the Health & Family Welfare Department of Assam to inform the Court as to how many persons, who are not having proper documents in support of their identification, have been vaccinated. The Gauhati High Court bench further stated that "in that event, as to how the second dose of vaccination would be given to such persons and in what manner." The Department has been given two weeks to file the affidavit.

This direction has been issued by the 'Double Bench' constituted by Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, and Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak on July 30, 2021, concerning the PIL (Public Interest Litigation)/34/2021. The matter was taken up through video conferencing.

The PIL was filed by Sourav Paul, son of Subrata Sen Gupta; resident of House No. 8, Bishnupur, Pital Karkhana, near Choto Kalimandir, Kamrup (M).
