Students Can Take Admission in Dissolved Madrassas for General Education from Current Session

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the Education Department to initiate the process for the conversion of the dissolved Madrassas of the State to general schools.

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the Education Department to initiate the process for the conversion of the dissolved Madrassas of the State to general schools.

Talking to the media, the Chief Minister said, "From this academic session students will take admission into the dissolved Madrassas for general education. The decision to convert the Government Madrassas to general schools was taken by the Sarbananda Sonowal government. We're going to implement that decision now."

The rationale behind the dissolution of the Government Madrassas is that theological education cannot be imparted at the Government's cost.

Recently the Chief Minister reviewed the works of the Education Department and instructed Education Minister Ranoj Pegu to be strict on the transfer and posting of teachers, and that should be done based on merit. He also asked Pegu to prepare a database of teachers' records.
