How to get licence of Bar Council of India

If you're an LLB degree holder, you can apply for the licence of the Bar Council of India. For candidates from Assam and other States of the Northeast, an office of the Bar Council of India is located on the second floor of the old Gauhati High Court building. Attested copies of LLB certificate and other certificates, character and ability certificates from two senior advocates, attested copies of the ST/SC certificate if the applicant belongs to that category, attested copies of the certificate from the Principal of the law college where the candidate read last, attested copy of graduate or equivalent certificate issued by the university studied last by the candidate and nationality certificate to be supported by an affidavit should be furnished along with the application form. After an interview, the Bar Council publishes the list with provisional registration numbers and I-cards. To get these documents, the candidate has to submit an affidavit. The candidate has to clear Bar Council of India's examination within two years. He/she gets three chances to sit for the examination. After qualifying in the examination, a candidate can get permanent registration of the Bar Council of India. If the candidate cannot clear the examination in the three chances, his/her provisional licence/registration will stand cancelled.
