HS final exams: 70.12% clear Arts, 84.96% Science, 79.57% Commerce

As many as 1,83,180 of the 2,61,231 candidates came out successful in the arts stream, and 39,405 of the 46,383 candidates came out successful in the science stream. And 16,245 of the 20,417 candidates passed in the commerce stream.

GUWAHATI: The pass percentages fell in all streams in the HS final examination in 2023. While 70.12 percent of candidates came out successful in the arts stream, 84.96 percent came out successful in the science stream, 79.57 percent in the commerce stream, and 85.61 percent of students passed in the vocational stream. Like every other year, private schools outperformed government schools in all streams of the examination.

As many as 1,83,180 of the 2,61,231 candidates came out successful in the arts stream, and 39,405 of the 46,383 candidates came out successful in the science stream. And 16,245 of the 20,417 candidates passed in the commerce stream.

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) declared the results today.

Sankalpajit Saikia of Ramanujan Senior Secondary School, Nagaon, topped the list in the arts, securing 490 out of 500.

Nikhilesh Dutta, a non-institutional candidate, topped the merit list in science with 484 out of 500.

In the commerce stream, Varsha Bothra of KC Das Commerce College, Guwahati, and Sukanya Kumar from Malaybari Senior Secondary School, Kamrup (M) topped the list with 472 out of 500.

While the Dhemaji district topped the list among the districts in the arts stream with a success rate of 90.74 percent, it was followed by Nalbari with a success rate of 88.83 percent.

The Baksa district topped the results in the science stream with a success rate of 95.69 percent, followed by Sivasagar with a success rate of 94.80 percent.

In the commerce stream, West Karbi Anglong topped the merit list with a pass percentage of 97.80 percent, followed by Nalbari with 96.71 percent.

In all three streams, the pass percentage fell: 84.96 percent in science in comparison to 92.19 percent in 2022; 70.12 percent in the arts when compared to 83.48 percent in 2022; and 79.57 percent in commerce when compared to 87.27 percent in 2022.
